Yummy hummus!

Here is a simple hummus recipe that I like to make whenever I'm in the mood.

  • 2 Tbsp. ground sesame seed or tahini (I normally toast my own seeds under the broiler and grind them the best I can)
  • 2 gloves garlic
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. cumin
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 Tbsp. lemon juice*
  • 1 15 1/2 ounce can chick peas**, drained (save the juice)
  • 1/4 cup of the juice from the chick peas

Put all into blender (except the juice from the peas) and blend until smooth (or use a hand blender and slowly add ingredients and water). For more moisture, add some of the extra chick pea juice or water until you get the thickness you like.

*The lemon juice makes this a little zesty. If you like it blander (for children), you can use a little less.

**Or 1 cup dried chick peas, reconstituted per package directions
