Menu Plan Monday

Last week was a bit tricky. I put too many time consuming meals on the menu and ended up with several days when I didn't have the time (or energy) to do all the prep work.

How do you handle prep work in your house? Any great hints or suggestions that have worked for you?

Now on to the food for this week...

Menu for this week:
  • Monday -- Chicken tacos
  • Tuesday -- Roast Beef and Veggies
  • Wednesday -- Chinese Chicken & Cabbage
  • Thursday -- Loosemeat Sandwhiches - thanks Emily for the recipe
  • Friday -- Thai or Indian Curry
  • Saturday -- Beef and Cheddar Sandwiches
  • Sunday -- Chili and Cornbread

Check out more menu plan's at Organizing Junkie.

Happy Monday!

  1. Great menu plan. I printed the loosemeat sandwiches.Sounds good. As for food prep, I try to get as many vegetables cut beforehand. Usually Sundays after church I cut up all of the onion, peppers, broccoli, celery etc that I will need for the week and bag them. And during the day of, if I am in the kitchen and the kids are eating breakfast or lunch I will put a casserole together and pop it in the refrigerator to bake for later. And I try at least one crockpot (slow cooker) meal a week for my sanity! :) keeping 4 sons and a husband full is definitely a full time job.I feel like I live in my kitchen sometimes. I hope this helps. Have a wonderful week.

  2. When I make a menu I make 3 lists. 1)the recipe (where and page)2) the grocery list 3) the prep list of big things like thawing or an hour of cook time, recipes that are very involved I try to get parts done through out the day or as much in advance as possible.

  3. I hate difficult (for me) recipes with a lot of steps--but some have a great outcome (like enchiladas, yum) so I make them anyway. In those cases, I try to spread out the steps throughout the day, e.g. chop veggies in the morning, brown the ground beef in early afternoon, do the next step an hour later etc., so I'm only working in small spurts.
