What a great week we had! Every morning this week, Joshua, Abigail and I headed to the church for a morning of fun. Joshua was able to attend class with me the entire week, even though he was younger than everyone else.
As I said in an earlier post, I was co-teaching the Pre-K/K class with 17 children between the ages of three and six years of age. They were a terrific group... not a trouble-maker among them.
Our days started in the sanctuary with all the classes together, where we would sing songs and watch a little skit -- Joshua especially loved the puppets, Cooper the dog and Nick the squirrel. He also had a few favorite songs that we would play over and over in the car on the way home.
Our class would then head to the Bible Club, where we would learn the Bible story for the day in a dramatic retelling. Next was Food & Fun, where we played games and made snacks to eat. Then we headed back to our classroom for craft time and other activities that would help the children learn to apply the Bible story lesson.
Joshua participated in most of the games and activities. He was protected and encouraged by a little six year old named Max who would help him wherever they went. We were looking through pictures of VBS and Joshua called out "Max" whenever we saw a picture of him.
Tonight was our closing ceremony. All the parents came to hear what their children learned this week. Each class sang a song from the week for everyone -- our group had a fun song called "Great Love" with hand motions.
Joshua and I both had so much fun! What a great week!
