Too long has it been since we've stopped to take a breath and update you all. The pregnancy is just flying by (I can say that, because it's not me up to go to the bathroom three times a night), and the end is nearer than you think.
Our baby boy has been measuring behind the growth curve for a while now, and they decided to schedule us for another ultrasound this past Wednesday. He's far enough behind the curve at 35 weeks (about 4 pounds) that our doctors have decided to induce next week! We will be starting the fun at 6 a.m. this Monday. He'll be just a day shy of 36 weeks then. Needless to say, with an original due date of January 3 we are frantically getting ready and adjusting our thought processes.
The good news is that there is nothing seriously wrong -- his maturity is progressing normally, and we expect him to be healthy, just very small. We expected that they would push back his due date and want him to cook a little longer, but the thinking is that he's not getting the maximum nutrition and will do better on the outside. The doc says that she's seen babies in this situation go home in 48 hours, or up to two weeks -- so we expect to be somewhere in the middle.
Friday is another doctor's appointment where they will check to make sure the baby isn't in distress. We expect everything to go smoothly, then to have a crazy weekend of last-minute preparations. Thank you so much in advance for all of your thoughts and prayers. We are tremendously blessed by God to be given such a precious gift, a boy who he is already using to teach us new things.
